In 2004 the Dutchess County Arts Council awarded Peter an Individual Artist's Fellowship in recognition of his outstanding musical compostitions and performance skills. Tango can be heard as an mp3 on Peter's recordings page A versatile composer and performer, Peter has written and performed a great variety of music. His albums include Dream Collage - a collection of original new age meditative music, and an album of classical music recorded on the exquisite period pipe organ located at the Chapel of Our Lady Restoration. In
addition, Peter has written a variety
of settings for the Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel. Peter teaches piano out of his studio at 2 Vervalen Drive, which is located near Route 55 and Freedom Plains Road - 5 miles east of Poughkeepsie, NY and only about one mile west of the Taconic State Parkway. Peter is also a Music Therapist for Cardinal Hayes Home for Special Children, located in Millbrook, NY.
Perhaps most importantly, Peter Krauss
is the inventor of a truly innovative sightreading system,
a learning tool which aids students of every level of ability. He
has created a unique set of musical
flashcards which he calls "Mozart's
Flashcards". Peter uses these cards extensively
with his own piano students, as they are an effective and flexible
music reading tool. Other teachers have also found them valuable
for training their students to read music. He is now marketing
these remarkable music flashcards, so that others can share in the joy
of accelerated learning. |
